Assistant Instructor Assistant Instructor
Overview
The PADI Assistant Instructor course is the first portion of the PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC). As an Assistant Instructor, you will gain additional experience as a PADI Professional. You will build upon your abilities to organize and supervise scuba diving activities., as well as develop your teaching skills. It is a great way to gain experience before becoming an Instructor.
You will do?
- Knowledge development through self-study, quizzes, lectures and presentations
- Confined water skill review and assessment, workshops and presentations
- Open water workshops, rescue assessment and candidate presentations
Prerequisites
- PADI Divemaster rating or qualifying certification from another organization
- Be at least 18 years old
- 60 logged dives (with experience in night, deep and navigation)
- Proof of CPR and first aid training within the last 24 months
What can an Assistant Instructor do?
- Teach knowledge development (classroom) presentations (under the indirect supervision of a PADI Instructor)
- Evaluate Open Water Diver surface skills (under the indirect supervision of a PADI Instructor)
- Teach the Peak Performance Buoyancy Specialty course
- Teach the Project AWARE Specialty course
- Conduct PADI Discover Scuba experiences
- Teach Emergency First Response courses after successfully completing the Emergency First Response Instructor Course
